Spray Foam
Spray Foam
Spray applied polyurethane insulation – or SPF – is installed as a liquid and then expands to many times its original size. The benefits of foam insulation are its high R-value per inch, the ability of foam to conform to odd shapes, and the reduction if not complete elimination of air infiltration. SPF products are so efficient that they typically can allow for a reduction in the size of heating and air conditioning equipment. Multiple studies show typical energy savings between 20 to 40 percent over traditional insulation systems.
Open Cell Foam
Open cell SPF products typically expand at a rate of 100:1 which allows for complete coverage of all voids, gaps and crevices in the cavity. Open cell SPF is a soft foam that allows for reduced airborne sound transmission, increased energy efficiency and elimination of air leakage. It will not shrink, sag or settle over time. It adheres to most construction materials and is a good choice for interior wall, attic, floor and ceiling applications.
Closed Cell Foam
Closed cell SPF foam is a hard (higher density) foam that is ideal for exterior and interior applications. The R-value per inch is the highest of any insulation product on the market. Unlike open cell products that are typically used only for thermal resistance and air infiltration, closed cell SPF has the added benefit of testing for water/vapor resistance, structural integrity, bonding strength and long term thermal resistance.
